Context
Current AI applications do not really know the users and the specific use scenarios they are in.
As a smart home devices owner, I strongly resonate with this statement. Alexa, for example, is a representation of AI product that does not have ability to correlate the context with tasks without proactive commands. Inspired by projects showcased, I initiated this IoT project with the intention to solve this problem through usersβ physical interactions.
Challenge
How can I create a seamless smart home experience that feels natural to users without using proactive commands?
Solution
The core idea of this design is to utilize usersβ natural behaviors as the cue to trigger AI productsβ awareness of user intentions and contexts.
Without the need of giving the AI product proactive commands, the correlated smart events would take place at the appropriate time and location.
How it works
This is a force-based sensor that can trigger series of user-defined smart events through Arduino and IFTTT. The input system is consisted of a force sensitive resistor (FSR) and a ESP8266 WiFi Module. For softwares, I used Arduino libraries to connect sensor data with IFTTT and Stringly services to trigger interactions from smart devices.
